On Sunday Clayton West hosted the u11 Dawson Cup Final between Meltham and Honley. Meltham batted first and scored 269-1 giving them a nett score of 261. Honley lost early wickets giving them a mountain to climb. They did actually score 280 but losing 9 wickets gave them a nett score of 208. The wickets and runs were fairly well shared out and so the umpires awarded the Man of the Match trophy to Honley's Charlie Taylor for a magnificent catch and the leading of a late revival with the bat.
The 10th u9 Grand Final at Kirkburton started and finished with shocks for the top seeded teams. The hosting club are the previous year's winners and this year Kirkburton were strong favourites to retain the trophy after a string of 7 tournament victories had made them the number 1 seed. 4 regular season tournament victories suggested Hall Bower would be facing them in the Grand Final. However; number 8 seeded Clayton West knocked out Kirkburton in the first round of the Grand Final. Clayton West then lost to number 4 seeds Cumberworth who then beat Hall Bower in a low scoring final. Hall Bower were restricted to 234-4 (214) and Cumberworth held their nerve in a final which featured some excellent bowling, ground fielding and catching. Cumberworth were presented with Michael Pamment Trophy as Grand Final winners. Hall Bower were presented with runners up medals while Kirkburton regrouped to win the John Cowan trophy, awarded to the winners of the Plate competition between the 4 first round losers.
